Our Denomination of Origin
D.O. Ribera del Duero: The Essence of a Great Wine
In the heart of the Iberian Peninsula lies the D.O. Ribera del Duero, a wine region globally recognized for the exceptional quality of its wines. Here, every bottle tells the story of a unique land, a particular climate, and a centuries-old winemaking tradition.
Our vineyards are situated at a high altitude, between 750 and 900 meters above sea level. This characteristic, along with an extreme continental climate, is key. We experience long, cold winters and hot summers with very cool nights. This wide thermal amplitude between day and night is fundamental, as it allows the grape to ripen slowly, developing an unparalleled concentration of sugars, aromas, and color.
The scarcity of rain in the region forces the vines to seek water deep in the soil, resulting in smaller grapes but with exceptional aromatic intensity and structure. The soils, a complex mixture of clays, limestones, and sands, contribute the minerality and complexity that make our wines so distinctive.
The Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grape is the undisputed protagonist of Ribera del Duero. Here, this indigenous variety reaches its maximum expression, producing wines of great intensity, color, and formidable aging potential. These are wines that, after aging in oak barrels and bottles, transform into elegant and complex elixirs, capable of captivating the most demanding palates.
Choosing a Ribera del Duero wine is a commitment to excellence and authenticity. It's enjoying a reflection of our land, our passion, and our commitment to quality.

History of the Family Winery
Boada de Roa
In a rural setting where all lives are humble, the historical references of our family are lost in time. Already in the land registry of Boada de Roa, the same family names that exist today appeared in successive decades. For hundreds of years, for the Viyuelas and their neighbors, this place and its vineyards were their small, great world.
Family of Winegrowers
Our motivation has been wine for generations, and in 2003 the family decided to launch a high-quality project, framed within the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin.
Rural Entrepreneurship
This is how the current Bodegas Viyuela project was born. With old vines, manual grape selection, and extreme care and affection in the production of our wines, which can be appreciated in every sip, in every moment of enjoyment, in every experience… there we transmit our passion for wine.
